Brave Kalighat thrash Sporting; maidan giants draw

Kalighat Club have proved that Fortune favours the bold as they earned 10 points by thrashing Sporting Union by an innings and 23 runs in CAB First Division Group A (3 days) League tournament today.
In a brave move Kalighat kept their faith on the bowlers and declared on 329/6 yesterday after bundling Sporting for a paltry 121 runs in the first innings and Kalighat bowlers proved their worth by sending their opponents back for 185 in the second innings.
Other four matches ended in draw as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Bhowanipore grabbed 7 points while Barisha Sporting earned 6 due to first innings lead.
Bagan batter Sudip Chatterjee (102*) completed his first ton of the season to declare on a huge 387/9 after which Town Club batted for 21 overs to force the match end in draw while their arch rival East Bengal's Pradipta Pramanik took 4 wickets for 62 runs in their drawn game against Police Athletic.
In another match Aryan Club batters put on some gritty batting display against Bhowanipore after bundling out for a paltry 95 runs in the first innings.
Bhowanipore enforced follow-on and the Aryan batters led by Dip Chatterjee (62*) responded well to end the day on 349/6 and snatched 3 points.
Barisha's Raju Halder bagged 5 wickets while Tapan Memorial bowlers Shahbaz Ahamed took 4 wickets for 43.
