Teams get ready for fist division league
14th December 2016
With less than 72 hours left before the start of the CAB First division league, all the teams are getting ready to to roll out in full steam.
Returning from the Ranji Trophy, the Bengal players have joined their respective clubs, practicing at the nets and also playing practice matches.
While last year the tournament was won by Bhawanipore beating East Bengal in the final, this year all the teams will be desperate for getting the coveted place, when the matches will be played in a new format.
According to the new set of rules, the matches will be played in two innings spanning for three days instead of two, where each team will bat for a maximum of 115 overs.
However, no such limitations have been set for the second essay; which will mostly rest on the Umpire’s call, depending upon the amount of time left in the match. Though a second innings is said compulsory.
Also, there is a change in the points table that says, a team getting an outright win will get 6 points. A team with a first innings lead will get 4 points, while the other will get 2. A draw or a tie of match will share three points between the sides. And the losing team will get nothing.
The grounds are all getting prepared for conducting matches in a hassle free manner, with the ground staff in action from the morning.
The tournament will be played in league cum knock out basis, starting from December 16.
