Bengal bury Himachal under pile of runs

Bengal batters dominated on the second day as well to leave Himachal buried under a pile of runs in Col C K Nayudu Trophy quarterfinal match today.
Bengal U23 lead by 579 runs as they declared after amassing 620 losing 7 wickets while the visitors batted for only 7 overs and scored 41 for no loss.
Bengal U23 coach Sourashis Lahiri said: "The wicket is good. We have to be very disciplined while bowling tomorrow, we have to bowl in the right areas as we want to bundle them out twice here. The pacers are getting help from the pitch, we have to make the best out of the morning dew condition."
"There's nothing much for the spinners at the moment, let's see how the wicket behaves tomorrow," he added.
Bengal rode on three fluent half-centuries by Kazi Junaid Saifi, Agniv Pan and Shubham Chatterjee to reach the mammoth total while two centurions from yesterday Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sudip Gharami went back to the pavilion scoring 167 and 148 respectively.
Easwaran who was looking well set for his second double century in a row became Arpit Gurelia's victim after lunch while Gharami was caught by P Khanduri off N Sharma on the ninth over of the day.
Resuming the day on 303/1 Bengal added more 317 runs in 80.3 overs today against Himachal at Eden Gardens.
Kazi (69) put on 92 runs on the board with Easwaran before falling into the hands of Jamwal off Rangi while the biggest partnership of the day came between Shubham and Pan.
The duo stiched a 145-run seventh wicket partnership with their sensible batting.
Himachal tried chocke the run flow by bringing their spinners back into the attack but the duo kept their calm and waited for the right time to press down the accelerator.
After tea Shubham came out charging to score a quickfire 85-ball 60 before being caught by Arslan Khan off Guleria while Pan missed out on a well-deserved hundred by 7 runs.
Guleria was the most prolific among Himachal bowlers with 3 wickets leaking 112 runs while Sharma grabbed 2 for 57.
