Eswaran, Shreevats steady Bengal

Bad light denied a full day’s play today in New Delhi, as Bengal reached 185 for 4 riding a 97-run partnership between, Abhimanyu Eswaran  (68) and Shreevats Goswami (52) in a Group-A Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh, after winning the toss and electing to bat.
Coming out to bat, Bengal started losing wickets at a regular interval. At point they were reduced to 88 for 4, before the partnership between Abhimanyu Eswaran and Shreevats Goswami held their innings together.  With both the players remaining not out, Bengal will expect them to carry on for long when the play starts tomorrow.
Prasenjit Kumar Das, who made a comeback to the squad leaving out Agniv Pan failed to shine, as he was dismissed for 3 leaving Bengal down to 29 for 1. Abhishek Kumar Raman, who opened innings with Prasenjit, however, carried on for a while, before he was bowled by Ishwar Pandey for 36, leaving  Bengal at 47 for 2.
Bengal lost their third wicket soon after, with the inform player, Sudip Chatterjee getting out on a duck, before the wicket of Skipper Manoj Tiwary (15) fell reducing Bengal to 88 for 4. Among the bowlers, Chandrakant Sakua remained at the top, with figures 2 or 33.
In a Group-B Ranji Trophy match played at Eden Gardens, Tripura finished the first day 70 for 4, after bundling Haryana for 231 in the first innings here in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Put to bat, Haryana were bowled out in 66.4 overs.
C. Bishnoi with 52 off 83 balls remained the highest scores for Haryana, while for Tripura M Singh and S Majumder took 3 wickets each.   
Thereafter, coming out to bat, things didn’t look good for Tripura either, as they lost four wickets in quick succession trailing Haryana by 161 runs.
