Bengal earn 3 points against MP

Bengal grabbed important 3 points in their second Ranji Trophy encounter against Madhya Pradesh due to first innings lead as the match resulted into a draw at Eden Gardens today.
The start to the fourth and final day of the match was just as Bengal wanted as Manoj Tiwary and men bundled out their opponents taking last 5 wickets for 81 runs.
MP started the day from 254/5 and Bengal went all out in search of an outright vicorty and bowlers did a commendable job bundling MP out for 335.
After the match Bengal skipper said: "We are satisfied as we have been able to execute our strategies and plans against them. 3 points is good for us."
Ashok Dinda picked up 2 wickets and Anustup Majumder, Ishan Porel taking 1 wicket apiece today in the first innings.
MP fell short off 25 runs and Bengal enforced follow-on and put them into bat again on the placid Eden pitch in search for victory.
MP batsmen Aryaman Birla and Shubham Sharma put on gritty batting display to keep victory out of home team's reach as both of them hit unbeaten century to finish on 240/3.
Birla hit 103 not out off 189 balls along with Shubham's unbeaten 100 to put on a 171-run partnership and help the opponents grab 1 point.
Part-time spinner Anustup shone for Bengal taking 2 wickets in the second innings and ended with a total 5 wickets for 98 runs in the match.
About Dinda and Porel's injury for which they had to leave the field today Manoj said: "Dinda suffered swollen knee while Porel was having blisters... Not getting them to bowl obviously affected us because we were going for outright. The wicket was also a bit difficult, it became slow at the end and it became easy for the batters.... They will be fit before next match."
Skipper Manoj was adjudged Man of the Match for his unbeaten double century and Bengal slipped to the fourth spot in the points table with 6 points in two matches.
Manoj and men will take on Kerala in the next match at Eden Gardens on 20 November.
