Certificates signed by Sachin to be distributed shortly

7th February 2018
The voluntary blood donation certificates on the occasion of Frank Worrell Day signed by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will be distributed shortly. The Frank Worrell Day was observed on February 3 at the CAB Club House.
This marked the 38th year of the blood donation camp organised in succession by the CAB at the clubhouse on the occasion of its Foundation Day in collaboration with the Association For Voluntary Blood Doners'. A total of 1935 doners gave their blood this year.
"The certificates with Sachin's signature will be given out very shortly. The master batsman was happy and pleased to be associated with the occasion which stands for the sportsman spirit associated with the Gentleman's Game," said Sourav Ganguly, President, the CAB.
In 1962 Nari Contractor, the captain of the Indian touring team to West Indies, was hit on the head by a Charlie Griffith bouncer.Blood was needed. Led by Sir Frank Worrell players of both the teams lined up to donate blood. And a life was saved.
It is in remembrance of this humanitarian act that CAB began organising this voluntary blood donation camp on its Foundation Day since 1981 to spread the message of saving life through blood donation. 39 greats from the world of cricket have lend their signatures to the donation certificates as a recognition of the cause.
The first year the certificates were signed by Mr Nari Contractor himself. Others included Sir Don Bradman, Ian Botham, Imran Khan, Sunil Gavaskar, and Sourav Ganguly just to name a few.
