Bengal tie match despite Manoj

An allround show from Skipper Manoj Tiwari helped Bengal tie their Group B match against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy today. Kerala batting first made 235 for 6 to which Bengal made 235 for 8 in the stipulated overs.
Bengal began the chase in right earnest with Sreevats Goswami and Abhimanyu Easwaran getting bright starts. But both fell after solid starts, Writtick promoted up the order also flattered to deceive.
This brought Manoj Tiwari and Anustup Majumdat together for the most flourishing period of the game. But once Anustup fell for 24, Bengal lower order looked rattled. But skipper Tiwari hung on bravely keeping the score board ticking and keeping Bengal within sight of victory. He got some able support from Sumanta Gupta who scored 23.
But it was left to the Bengal skipper again to see the team through as he kept running out of options. In the end he remained unbeaten on 73 off 92 balls as Bengal managed to tie scores in what should have been an easy win.
Kerala won the toss and elected to bat. Their innings was built around Jalaj Saxena who played two fruitful partnership with Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby to take Kerala past the 200 mark. He remained unbeaten on a seasoned 100 that came of 133 balls. Sanju Samson who scored 34 played a 63 run partnership for the third wicket with Saxena, who alao had a 40 run partnership with Baby who scored 19 of them. A late cameo from Md Azharuddeen saw they score briskly at the death.
Manoj was successful again with his new found bowling style picking up 2 wickets, while Sayan Ghosh alao got 2 at 5.6 runs an over. Veteran Ashoke Dinda sat out this tie.
Bengal now have 2 points from two games.
