Ramesh, Shahbaz shine for Tapan Memorial

Tapan Memorial bagged in eight points while Pikepara got two in a CAB first division league match today here in Maidan. The heroes for Tapan Memorial were Ramaesh Prasad with eight wickets and Shahbaz Ahmad with an unbeaten double ton.
Dismissing Pikepara for 245 in the first innings, chasing their 547, Tapan Memorial finished second essay at 429 for 3 in 56 overs.
“I missed out a double hundred in the first innings so my intention from the beginning of the second innings was to make a positive start and score as fast as possible. The wicket was not tough to bat on and the ball was coming quite easily,” Shahbaz said to CAB media in the post match session.
“We have made a positive start to the season and are looking forward as team to go well in the tournament. Despite a throughout domination, we couldn’t get full points and had to be satisfied with eight. Our aim in the next match will be to play good cricket, win and bag ten points,” he added.
All other matches went down to a draw with the teams sharing points based on the first innings lead.
However, among the bowlers, Veer Pratap Singh and Wasif Ahmed took five wickets each giving advantage to their respective sides.
Among those hitting centuries were Gopal Nain (129), Tirtha Roy(136) and Anup Samaddar (104).
In the second division matches, while Taltala beat Calcutta Cricket Club by two wickets, Cricket Club of Dhakuria beat Baranagar Sporting Club by five wickets.
N. Sir. Gooroodas Inst beat Gymkhana in a tug of war by nine runs, when Ballygung beat Satya Sandhi by three wickets.
