REVISITING MEMORIES

4th October 2025
It is indeed a memory to cherish. 38 years is quite a long time, but the memories are fresh and alive to the men who made it possible.
It was back in 1987 when the East Zone team was crowned champions of the U-17 Men’s Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Part of the champion squad were former India captain and former BCCI and current CAB President Sourav Ganguly, current CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das and current BCCI Hony Secretary Mr Devajit Saikia.
On Tuesday, when Mr. Das and Mr. Saikia met at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup opening match, it was a reunion, with both recalling the memories of their playing days.
"We didn't realize it would be a memory when we did it," said the two after the duo exchanged greetings.
The picture rightly reflects the wonderful memory taken back in 1987 where Mr Ganguly, Mr Das and Mr Saikia (marked in circle) pose with the members of the squad.
