Riding on brilliant knocks by Shakir Habib Gandhi (220) and Vivek Singh (142 not out), Bhawanipore Club posted a mammoth 594/5 in their first innings at stumps on Day 3 against East Bengal Club in the First Division Championship final at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
Gandhi, extending his sublime form this season, smashed a superb double ton in the all-important final to put Bhawanipore in a commanding position.
He was well supported in the other end by Vivek.
The Gandhi-Vivek duo struck a superb 250-run stand for the fifth wicket to help the team reach a massive first-innings total.
Vivek and Pradipta Pramanik (37 not out) remained unbeaten at the end of the day's play.
For East Bengal, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Vikas Singh bagged 2 wickets each while Kanisk Seth claimed one.
