U-19 stars Ankit, Vishal to debut as Bengal face Haryana in Ranji match at home

22nd January 2025
Bengal will aim to bag maximum points when they take on Haryana in their sixth Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at the Bengal Cricket Academy in Kalyani on Thursday.
With one win and three draws from five games so far, Bengal are currently placed in third spot with 14 points. On the other hand, Haryana are on top with 20 points from five games.
Bengal, who have two games (Haryana & Punjab) left in the group stage, will look to gather maximum points to book a place in the knockouts.
The match will be memorable for two rising stars, Under-19 heroes batsman Ankit Chatterjee and all-rounder Vishal Bhati, as the duo will be making their debut in the match.
Ankit and Vishal will be two players after Abhimanyu Easwaran to make their debut for Senior Bengal after playing in Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy all in the same season.
While Easwaran will be sidelined due to injury, the onus will be on skipper Anustup Majumdar, Sudip Kumar Gharami, Abishek Porel and Writtick Chatterjee to score big.
The bowling department will be led by the experienced Mukesh Kumar.
With Haryana playing consistent cricket in the tournament, the Laxmi Ratan Shukla-coached team will look to make the best use of the home conditions to force a result and bag all seven points from the match.
