Mukesh out Sayan in
6th October 2016
Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar has been ruled out of the Ranji Trophy on wednesday, due to an injury he suffered during a practice at the Jadavpur university Salt Lake campus ground.
“I was practicing at the nets and hoped to give my best during the Ranji Trophy. But that was not to be. But I am keeping positive. Injuries are common in cricket”, he said over telephone to CAB media.
Asked about recovery, “I will see doctor on 13th of this month. Hope he gives me some positive answer,” he said before saying, “I had really eyed a good performance. Hope I can recover soon”.
However, later in the day, the medical team of Bengal said, “His right thumb has been fractured badly, and it should take minimum 4-5 weeks for him to recover.”
This was a lucky break for Sayan Ghosh, who made his debut to first-class cricket last year in the Ranji Trophy.
“Never thought will came back in the team in this way. Feeling bad for Mukesh. Hope he recovers soon. He is a good player”, he said.
Asked about his performance, “I will definitely give my best. This opportunity is big and I need to capitalize on it”, he said.
