Swastik hits 125 as Bengal U-16 post 243/4
against MP in Vijay Merchant Trophy

Opener Swastik Maiti smashed a superb 125 as Bengal Under-16 team reached 243/4 at stumps on Day 1 against Madhya Pradesh in the Vijay Merchant Trophy clash in Surat on Wednesday.
Enroute his brilliant 262-ball innings, Swastik struck 15 fours and two sixes.
Batting first, Bengal got off to a slow start, losing opener Ankit Chatterjee (19) in the 11th over with just 28 on the board.
From there on, Swastik and Arman Shah (44) stitched together a fine partnership for the second wicket to take team past 150-run mark.
After the dismissal of Arman, skipper Ashutosh Kumar (43 not out) also provided fine support to Swastik as the latter brought up his ton in style.
Later in the day, MP bounced back with couple of wickets to put a check on the run flow.
Ashutosh and Abhiprai Biswas (5) remained unbeaten at stumps.
For MP, Yuvraj Singh Kansana bagged two wickets.
