Bengal goes down fighting to Gujarat in T20 final

Bengal displayed a fighting effort but went down to Gujarat in the final of the Reliance G-1 men's Senior T20 Tournament in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
After three successive victories in the league stage, the Laxmi Ratan Shukla-coached side lost to Gujarat by 2 wickets.
Opting to bat, Bengal were reduced to 15/3 inside 3 overs. But Abhishek Porel (41 off 32) and Ritwik Roy Chowdhury (31 off 27) batted superbly to bail the team out of trouble.
At the end, Pradipta Pramanik (29 off 15) and Ranjot Singh Khaira (27 not out off 19) played quickfire knocks to help the visitors post a competitive 157/8 in 20 overs.
Chintan Gaja bagged three wickets for Gujarat.
Chasing a challenging total, Gujarat lost wickets at regular intervals and were struggling at 65/6.
But Chirag (61 not out off 46) and Ripal Patel (48 off 19) played blistering knocks at the end as Gujarat went over the line, scoring 159/8 in 20 overs.
For Bengal, Ishan Porel (3-30) and Pradipta (2-26) were the pick of the bowlers while Ravi Kumar, Saksham Chaudhary and Kaushik Maity also chipped in with a wicket each.
