Barisha Sporting Club crowned 1st Div One-Day champions

Barisha Sporting Club defeated Town Club by virtue of higher run-rate in the final at the Eden Gardens on Friday to emerge champions in the CAB 1st Division One-Day league cum knockout tournament.
Batting first, riding on twin centuries by Suvankar Bal (115) and Ompal Boken (100 not out), Town Club posted a challenging 287/6 in 48 overs with a run-rate of 5.98.
In reply, Ayush Pandey (53) and Priyank Patel (50) were impressive with the bat as Barisha Sporting Club were 162/2 in 27 overs with run-rate of 6.00, when rain stopped play. With the weather showing no signs of improvement, Barisha Sporting were declared winners by 8 wickets, thanks to their higher run rate.
Suvankar was awarded the man of the match for his excellent innings.
Earlier, put into bat, Town Club found themselves in a spot of bother with half their side back in the hut with just 64 runs on the board inside 23 overs.
However, against the run of play, Suvankar and Boken stitched together a much-needed 186-run partnership for the sixth wicket to bail the team out of trouble and guide Town past the 250-run mark.
In his 123-ball innings, Suvankar smashed 11 boundaries and three sixes while Ompal struck 11 fours and three sixes in his 84-ball innings.
Debopratim Halder (3-58) was the pick of the bowlers for Barish Sporting.
Chasing the target, Ayush and Priyank gave Barisha Sporting a positive start.
The duo added a quick-fire 105 runs for the opening stand in 19 overs.
After the dismissal of Ayush, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury (35 not out) came in and scored freely to put Barisha Sporting in a strong position.
Sumanta Gupta (13) and Agniv Pan (6 not out) struck some big blows but rain stopped play when Barisha Sporting were 162/2 in 27 overs.
