Kalighat on top against Town Club in 1st Division Championship final

A strong batting performance followed by a disciplined bowling effort put Kalighat Club in a strong position against Town Club at stumps on Day 3 in the First Division Championship pink-ball D/N final at the Eden Gardens on Saturday.
After putting up a commendable total of 480 in their first innings, Kalighat Club reduced Town Club to 152/4 at the end of the third day.
For Kalighat, B Amit (3-39) and Pritam Chakraborty (1-34) were impressive with the ball while Naved Ahmad scored much-needed 57 for Town Club.
Earlier, resuming the day from overnight score of 438/8, Kalighat managed to add 42 runs before their innings folded in the 149th over. Lower-order batsman Kaushik Maity scored a handy unbeaten 72 to help team reach a fighting total.
In reply, Town Club, in their first innings, dealt an early blow losing opener Agniswar Das (4) in the 9th over followed by Abhijeet Bhagat (2) in the 14th to reduce the side to 25/2.
However, Naved and Suvankar Bal (14) managed to add some vital runs but Amit returned to get rid of Suvankar as Town Club found themselves in trouble at 68/3.
From there on, Naved and Sandeep Tomar (49 not out) gathered a crucial 49-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take team past the 100-run mark.
After the dismissal of Naved, Sandeep and Saksham Chaudhary (13 not out) kept their cool at the end to remain unbeaten at stumps.
