Gharami (185), Writam (105) power Kalighat to 438/8 in 1st Division Championship final

Riding on brilliant batting performances by Sudip Kumar Gharami (185) and Writam Porel (105), Kalighat Club managed to reach a commanding 438/8 at stumps on Day 2 against Town Club in the First Division Championship pink-ball D/N final at the Eden Gardens on Friday.
Resuming the day from overnight score of 254/3, Gharami and Writam managed to add 64 runs before the former ran himself out to miss out on a well-deserved double century.
After his dismissal, Bidyut Adhikary (4) and B Amit (14) also departed in quick succession to reduce Kalighat to 332/6.
However, despite wickets at the other end, Writam kept the scorers busy, and the left-handed batsman brought up his century in style.
Town Club was once again sloppy on the field, dropping two catches of the bowling off Geet Puri.
In the end, Kaushik Maity (46 not out) and Pritam Chakraborty (25) made useful contributions to guide team past the 400-run mark.
For Town Club, Sujit Kumar Yadav (3-107), Geet (2-90) and Md Kaif (2-98) were the pick of the bowlers.
Only 57 overs could be bowled on Day 2 as rain forced early stumps again.
