Riding on twin centuries by Adarsh Singhal (141 not out) and Vrijesh Soni (103) National Athletic Club defeated Taltala Institute by 8 wickets in the Qualifier 1 of the CAB Second Division league cum knockout tournament on Wednesday. Batting first, Nikhil (104) helped Taltala Institute post 307/9. Dhruvankar Das bagged four wickets. In reply, National Athletic Club chased down the target comfortably, scoring 308/2.
In other matches, Albert Sporting Club defeated Balak Sangha by 51 runs. Batting first, Nayan Ghosh (76) and Sourav Ghosh (60) helped Albert Sporting Club post a challenging score of 340. Rakesh Gond (4-54) was impressive with the ball. In reply, despite a fine 87 by Pranjal Das, Balak Sangha fell short of the target, managing only 289. Pradipto Mukherjee bagged four wickets.
Calcutta Port Trust Sports Club beat Excelsiors Club by 326 runs. Sk Md Sharukh (121) and Anup Kumar Barick (87) batted superbly to help Calcutta Port Trust Sports Club post 445/6. Sonu Mondal bagged four wickets. In reply, despite a fine unbeaten 82 by Sujit Soren, Excelsiors Club were bowled out for 119. Amit Banerjee (7-60) was excellent with the ball.
West Bengal Police Sports Club beat Calcutta Parsee Club by 23 runs. West Bengal Police Sports Club posted 214/8. In reply, despite a fine 90 by Joydeb Nath, Calcutta Parsee Club were bowled out for 191. Kunal Bose bagged four wickets while Biswajit Dey took three.
