Eden Gardens host IPL opening ceremony with colours and crackers

13th April 2017
Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor and singer Monali Thakur rocked the opening ceremony at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, ahead of the 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab today.
Putting the crowd on their feet, Monali Thakur shook legs with few of her popular numbers like, “Moh Moh ke Dhaage”, “Tune Mari Entry” and the title track of Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya.
On the other hand, Shraddha Kapoor rolled her waist in “Tum Hi Ho” from “Aashiqui 2″, “Galliyaan" from "Ek Villain” and “The humma song” in front of father and veteran actor Shakti Kapoor in the stands.
As a whole, the evening was mostly a combination of Bengali and Punjabi musics. While the Knight Riders were introduced to the field with Bengal’s popular chhau dance, KXIP were introduced with Punjab’s popular bhangra.
Also, the captains made an entry to the event in the buggy carts, which had fire sparklers coming out from the sides.
The show finally came to an end with the sound of crackers throwing smokes in the air and disappearing again, and the crowd waiting for the first ball to be bowled.
