Arnab’s 104 helps Mohun Bagan earn 1st
innings lead in Super League 1st Div match

Leading from the front, Arnab Nandi smashed a fine unbeaten 104 to help Mohun Bagan A.C. take a vital first innings lead after their CAB Super League First Division Group A match against Tapan Memorial Club ended in a draw on Monday. After bowling Tapan Memorial out for 326 in their first innings, Mohun Bagan posted 522/9 which helped them grab first innings lead. Rajat Verma bagged five wickets. Tapan Memorial, in their second innings, were 135/2 at stumps on the third and final day.
In other matches, Police Athletic Club’s Abhishek Mishra scored a brilliant 133 but Shambazar Club took a vital first innings lead after their match ended in a draw. After Shambazar Club posted a massive 485/7 in their first innings, Police Athletic were bowled out for just 291. Rohit Kumar bagged four wickets. Shambazar, in their second innings, scored 133/3 decl. while Police Athletic Club managed only 72/2 at stumps.
Poonish Mehta scored a fine 92 as Paikpara Sporting Club took first innings lead after their match against East Bengal Club ended in a draw. Paikpara Sporting Club scored 272 in their first innings and bowled out East Bengal Club for 223 to grab first innings lead. Paikpara, in their second innings, were 264/8 decl. at stumps. Souvick Ghosh (5-96) impressed with the ball.
Riding on a superb unbeaten 103 by Writam Porel, Kalighat Club took first innings lead after their match against Calcutta Customs Club ended in a draw. Kalighat Club posted 322/5 decl. in their first innings, in reply to Calcutta Customs Club’s first innings score of 188. Calcutta Customs, in their second innings, were 207/5 at stumps. Vikas Singh bagged four wickets.
Town Club took a vital first innings lead after their match against Bhawanipore Club ended in a draw. Town Club scored 239 in their first innings, in reply to Bhawanipore Club’s score of 233, thus taking first innings lead. Bhawanipore, in their second innings, were managed 220/6 decl. while Town Club were 63/2 at stumps.
