Mayor's Cup gets off to a classy start

The Mayor's Cup featuring the Junior Knights from 52 schools got off to a classy start at the Eden Gardens, with CAB President Snehasish Ganguly telling the teams how this tournament could be a turning point in their lives.
Earlier, Mr Debasish Kumar, 4 Sri Debasish Kumar, MMIC Sports, Advertisement, Parking & Hawker's Rehabilitation Schemes, was felicitated by CAB President Snehasish Ganguly.
Talking about the meet Mr Ganguly said: "For the last two years we have not been able to hold the meet like we wanted to, but with the Covid restrictions gone, we are happy to do this tournament with 52 teams. This means we have over 1000 students participating. I can't stress enough the importance of this meet. This is where we spot talents and they go on to become big names. I would like to thank the KMC and KKR for their continued support to the tournament."
Mr. Kumar said, "I feel so happy to be a part of this tournament. This is the best school cricket tournament in the city and I laud CAB for holding it with such lavishness and grace."
KKR CMO Brinda Dey said, "I thank CAB for holding this meet with such care. This time we have decided to spot 11 players from this tournaments who would go on to be coached by KKR."
The opening match took place at Eden Gardens between MP Birla Foundation HS School and St James School.
