Jammu Kashmir’s Shubham scores 118* against Bengal U-25

Bengal bowlers put up a good fight but Shubham Singh Pundir (118 not out) played a fine knock to help Jammu Kashmir post 244/5 at stumps on Day 2 in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy at the Hostel Ground JKCA in Jammu on Monday.
Jammu Kashmir were just 9 runs behind in their first innings at the end of day’s play, in reply to Bengal’s score of 253.
Resuming the day from overnight score of 226/8, Bengal managed to add just 27 runs in the morning before their innings folded in the 97th over.
For Jammu Kashmir, Vishal Kumar (6-65) was impressive with the ball.
In reply, the home side got off to a good start, courtesy of their openers Arya Thakur (26) and Abid Hussain (12).
But Bengal made a comeback into the made by reducing Jammu Kashmir to 47/2.
But Shubham stitched fine partnerships with Kanhaiya Wadhawan (27) followed by Kawal Preet Singh (21) to take team past the 140-run mark.
Bengal made a much-needed fightback as Prayas Ray Barman dismissed set batter Kawal and Lone Nasir Muzaffar (0) in span of three balls to reduce the hosts to 145/5.
From there on, Shubham and Yawer Hassan (28) kept their cool to gather an unbeaten 99-run partnership for the sixth wicket at the end of the day’s play.
For Bengal, Prayas and Kaushik Maity bagged two each while Sandipan Das claimed one.
