The newly replaced lights shined bright as the
President's XI took on the Secretary's XI
5th February 2023
The newly replaced lights shined bright as the President's XI took on the Secretary's XI in the customary friendly replete with nostalgia and tradition.
The President's XI was led by Snehasish Ganguly while CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha let Jt Secretary Debabrata Das lead the other side.
As is often true of such friendlies it's the spirit of cricket rather than the sole motive to win, this match was no different.
CAB President Snehasish Ganguly shone with bat and ball. His classy left hand cameo with the willow allowed his team to pile up runs. He then pulled the reins on the Secretary XI's run chase with his miserly off breaks.
Secretary Naresh Ojha bowled one over and then retired allowing others to take his place.
The President's XI made 139 from 18 overs, increased from 15, to accommodate more batters and bowlers. In response the Secretary's XI wrapped up the match with three balls to spare. Debabrata Das batted well and refused to retire despite loud appeals from the commentator and sidelines.
The fact that the teams consisted of former Bengal women cricketers made the match even more memorable.
