Pritam, Ishan help Bengal bowl out
Odisha for 265 in Ranji tie

After bowling out Odisha for 265 in their first innings, Bengal reached 39/2 at stumps on Day 2 in their final Ranji Trophy Elite Group A clash at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Pritam Chakraborty (3-59), Ishan Porel (3-67), Akash Ghatak (2-51) and Akash Deep (1-11) impressed with the ball for Bengal as the visitors were bundled out in 98 overs. Geet Puri, coming in as a concussion substitute for Akash Deep, also bagged a wicket.
Earlier, resuming the day from overnight score of 99/2, the visitors lost Shantanu Mishra (42) followed by Rakesh Pattanaik (5) with just 114 on the board.
But leading from the front, skipper Subhranshu Senapati (67) scored a fine counter-attacking innings to bail the visitors out of trouble.
In his 127-ball innings, Senapati struck 9 boundaries.
Despite Senapati scoring some vital runs, Bengal bowlers managed to bag wickets at crucial moments to have Odisha at 203/7.
Rajesh Dhuper (15) and Suryakant Pradhan (22) also added vital runs to take team past 200-run mark.
Putting pressure on the Bengal bowlers, Sunil Kumar Roul (24) and veteran Basant Mohanty (15 not out) combined well at the end to add 38 runs for the tenth wicket as Odisha breached the 250-run mark before their innings folded.
In reply, Bengal lost Karan Lal (8) and Sudip Kumar Gharami (9) as Abhimanyu Easwaran (10) and Pritam (7) remained unbeaten at the end of the day hoping to put on a big total on the third day and grab a crucial first innings lead.
