Bengal Sr women go down to Punjab in one-day meet

Despite a fighting unbeaten 93 by Priyanka Bala, Bengal senior women’s team went down to Punjab by 3 wickets in a one-day trophy at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur on Wednesday.
Batting first, Bengal were bowled out for 156 in 50 overs. In reply, Punjab chased it down scoring 157/7 in 49.4 overs.
Earlier, opting to bat, Bengal were in a spot of bother losing half their side with just 55 on the board inside 21 overs.
Despite wickets at the other end, Priyanka kept her cool, playing a much-needed knock to help team post a respectable total.
In her 129-ball innings, Priyanka struck 10 boundaries.
Kashish Agarwal (21) and Sukanya Parida (12) both got off to good starts but failed to convert it into big ones.
In reply, Punjab dealt an early blow as opener Ridhima Aggarwal (0) was back in the hut in the second ball.
But Parveen Khan (32) held the innings well along with Taniya Sapna Bhatia (31) to bail team out of trouble.
Kanika Ahuja (20), Sristhi Rajput (29) and Neelam Bisht (19 not out) also scored handy runs as Punjab went over the line with two balls to spare.
Saika Ishaque bagged two wickets for Bengal.
