23rd January 2023
Prayas Ray Barman (91) and Vikas Singh (61) batted superbly to help Bengal post 295 in their first innings against Tripura in the Col C K Nayudu Trophy on Monday.
After bowling out Tripura for just 205 in their first innings, Bengal posted a challenging total which helped them earn a vital first innings lead.
Tripura, in their second innings, were 50/1 at stumps on Day 2 at the 22 Yards, Salt Lake.
Earlier, resuming the day from overnight score of 87/3, Bengal found themselves in a bit of a trouble at 105/6 with set batter Kazi Junaid Saifi (31) back in the hut.
From there on, Prayas and Vikas helped the home side stage a brilliant comeback, adding a much-needed 142-run partnership for the seventh wicket to take team past the 240-run mark.
Prayas was unlucky to miss out on a well-deserved century.
Kaushik Maity (28 not out) played a handy knock at the end as Bengal team’s innings ended at 84.5 overs. Saruk Hossain bagged five wickets for Tripura.
