Punjab U-25 take first innings lead after draw against Bengal

Bengal put up a good fight but Punjab earned vital first innings lead after their Col C K Nayudu Trophy match ended in a draw on Wednesday.
After Bengal posted a challenging first innings total of 400, Punjab made a strong comeback to post a massive 547, which helped them earn crucial first innings lead.
Bengal, in their second innings, were 188/7 at stumps on the final day at the JU Second Campus Salt Lake.
Earlier, resuming the day from overnight score of 446/5, Punjab batsmen again looked in fine touch as they piled on some quick runs to put Bengal in the backfoot.
Gourav Choudhary played a fine 66 to take team past the 500-run mark.
For Bengal, Kaushik Maity (3-109), Sandipan Das (3-115) and Prayas Ray Barman (2-118) impressed with the ball.
In reply, Bengal, in their second innings, were struggling at 188/7 at stumps.
Kazi Junaid Saifi was the only batsman who showed intent in the middle scoring a fine unbeaten 80.
For Punjab, Prerit Dutta bagged five wickets.
