Bengal take on Uttarakhand, target back-to-back wins in Ranji

2nd January 2023
With confidence sky-high after a thumping victory over Nagaland, an unbeaten Bengal side will aim to register their third victory of the Ranji Trophy campaign when they take on Uttarakhand in their fourth Elite Group A match at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in Dehradun starting on Tuesday.
Having already bagged 16 points from three games so far, with two big wins, the Laxmi Ratan Shukla-coached side will go into the match with a lot of positives and confidence after an innings and 161 run victory against Nagaland.
Most importantly, the return of Abhimanyu Easwaran has boosted the team immensely after the experienced right-handed batsman missed the first two home games due to national-team call up.
His return to the side was a high-flying one as the 27-year-old smashed a match-winning 170 against Nagaland to guide team to a massive total.
Interestingly, in a landmark moment, Easwaran will take the field on Tuesday at his hometown and at a stadium named after him.
On this special occasion, he will surely be raring to score another big one with the bat.
Besides Easwaran, the in-form Sudip Kumar Gharami, Anustup Majumdar and captain Manoj Tiwary himself make a strong batting line-up.
The consistent Shahbaz Ahmed will once again aim to make it count both with the bat and the ball.
Brimming with confidence after a memorable debut, spinner Karan Lal will hope to keep his place in the playing XI along with another talented spinner Pradipta Pramanik.
In the fast bowling department, Akash Deep and Ishan Porel are most likely to lead the attack on a pitch which may favour the batsmen.
On the other hand, Uttarakhand will go into the match after three back-to-back victories so far. The Jiwanjot Singh-led side has beaten Nagaland, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh comprehensively and will aim for their fourth win of the campaign.
