Pradipta bags 5 to put Bengal
on top against Nagaland

27th December 2022
Talented Bengal spinner Pradipta Pramanik displayed an impressive bowling performance picking up five crucial wickets to reduce Nagaland to 166/9 at stumps on Day 1 in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group A clash at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima on Tuesday.
Along with Pradipta (5-43), Ishan Porel (1-12) and Shahbaz Ahmed (1-53) too bowled superbly from the start of day's play to restrict Nagaland to a low score as bad light and weather allowed only 62 overs to be played in the day.
Karan Lal, who made his debut for Bengal, also impressed with the ball.
Earlier, opting to bat, Nagaland got off to a worst possible start losing their top three batsmen inside 10 overs with just 21 on the board.
Pradipta and Shahbaz were ruthless with the ball right from the start as Nagaland batsmen found it extremely tough to handle the duo.
Middle and lower order batsmen Rongsen Jonathan (25), Imliwati Lemtur (25) and Nagaho Chishi (14) all got off to starts but failed to convert it into a big one as Bengal bowlers executed their plans perfectly by claiming wickets at regular intervals.
However, Chetan Bist (64), the top-scorer for the home side, managed to sneak in with some crucial runs to help team cross the 160-run mark at end of the day.
With just one wicket to be taken, Laxmi Ratan Shukla-coached Bengal side will be hoping to complete the formalities as early as possible on Day 2 and put up a big score on the board to outplay the opposition.
