Suman claims 10 wickets in Customs win

Suman Das bagged an impressive 10 wickets in the match to help Calcutta Customs Club beat Shambazar Club by 10 wickets in the CAB First Division League Group A match at Aditya Academy in Barasat on Sunday.
Resuming the day from overnight score of 143/5, Shambazar batsman Ayan Gupta (52) looked in good touch but wickets at the other end ended their second innings at 207, thus handing 16-run target to Calcutta Customs. Suman (5-55) bowled superbly in the second innings after his 5 for 28 in the first.
Calcutta Customs chased the target scoring 21 for no loss in 3.3 overs.
In the day’s second match at SP School Ground in Kolkata, Town Club thrashed Police Athletic Club by an innings and 388 runs.
Resuming the final day from 29 for no loss after being forced to follow on, Police Athletic batsmen struggled once again as wickets kept tumbling at regular interval.
Anand Kumar Singh top-scored for his side with 38 runs but they were bundled out for 158 in the second innings. Azaz Ansari (6-59) and Geet Puri (3-32) bowled superbly to help Town Club win the tie. But the star of the match was Suvankar Pal who smashed an unbeaten 237 in their first innings.
In the day’s third match at the Deshbandhu Park Ground, Kolkata, defending champions Bhowanipur Club beat Tapan Memorial Club by an innings and 71 runs. In reply to Bhowanipur’s first innings total of 512/8, Tapan Memorial managed only 179 and were asked to follow on. Trailing by a huge margin, Tapan Memorial began their second innings cautiously.
Despite good knocks by Akash Shukla (64) and Sonu Naubagh (63) and Ankush Tyagi (47 not out), the side felt the pressure and were eventually bowled out for 262. Ravi Kant Singh was the pick of the bowlers with six wickets.
In the day’s fourth match at Bengal Cricket Academy in Kalyani, Mohun Bagan took first innings lead after their match against Paikpara Sporting Club was drawn. Resuming the day from 259/3, Mohun Bagan went on to declare their first innings at 402/7 after Paikpara were bowled out for 291. Paikpara, in their second innings, managed to reach 137/6 at stumps on the final day to hand vital points to Mohun Bagan.
In the day’s fifth match at JU 2nd Campus Ground, Salt Lake, Barisha Sporting Club took first innings lead after their match against East Bengal Club was drawn. Resuming the day from 148/4, East Bengal managed to post 318/9, thanks to a fine 99 by Amitoze Singh. In reply, Barisha reached 140/4 at stumps.
Earlier, Barisha scored 215 in their first innings, in reply to East Bengal’s 163.
