Barisha’s Sumanta smashes unbeaten 159

The local CAB Super League Group A match at the Deshbandhu Park Ground, Kolkata witnessed a gem of an innings as Sumanta Gupta smashed an unbeaten 159 off 170 balls to power Barisha Sporting Club to a challenging 332/4 in 85 overs against Paikpara Sporting Club at stumps on Day 2 on Monday.
Enroute his fine knock, Sumanta hit 26 boundaries and a six. He was well supported by Priyank Patel (74).
Resuming the day from an overnight score of 16/1, Barisha Sporting kept playing freely with a positive intent which helped them gather a vital 116-run first innings lead after Paikpara were bowled out for 216.
In another match at Aditya Academy, Barasat, Kalighat Club posted 452/7 in 113 overs against Police Athletic Club.
Resuming the day from 298/5, B Amit (77) and Raxlee Taylor (56) helped Kalighat cross the 450-run mark.
In reply, Police Athletic Club were reduced to 157/7 in 48.5 overs at stumps, thanks to a fine bowling effort by Pritam Chakraborty (5-37).
In the day’s third match at the Bengal Cricket Academy in Kalyani, Sandipan Das scored a fine 88 to help defending champions Bhowanipore Club post 238 against Shambazar Club’s first innings total of 144.
In reply, in their second innings, Shambazar were 115/3 at stumps with a lead of 21 runs.
