Bengal bags third win in Vijay Hazare

Bengal beat Railways by 57 runs in their Elite Group E match on Saturday to keep their hopes alive for the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockout rounds.
Riding on half-centuries from Abishek Porel (54) and skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran (50), Bengal posted 248/9 in 50 overs in Ranchi.
In reply, Railways were bundled out for 191 in 43.2 overs, thanks to some impressive bowling by Manoj Tiwary (3-26), Geet Puri (2-36) and Shahbaz Ahmed (2-41).
Chasing a challenging total, Railways got off to a positive start in the first six overs, but thereafter lost wickets at regular intervals.
Most of their Railways batsmen got off to starts but failed to make it big. Upendra Yadav top-scored with 39 runs.
Earlier in the day, put into bat, Bengal lost in-form opener Sudip Gharami (22) in the 14th over.
But skipper Easwaran delivered for his side and held the innings firmly.
He was well supported by Porel.
Writtick Chatterjee (37 not out) too chipped in with a handy knock later in the innings.
With three wins from five games, Bengal next face Services in the final group match on Monday.

-Rajasthan (243/4 in 44.1 overs) beat Vidarbha (240 all out in 47.2 overs) by 6 wickets.
- Assam (297/4 in 48.2 overs) beat Karnataka (296/4 in 50 overs) by 6 wickets.
