CAB League commences in November

For the first time in recent history, the CAB Super League will commence in the month of November with the First Division League tournament getting underway on Sunday.
The CAB administration created a milestone by getting the grounds match-ready in record time, which has helped them begin the league in November.
Despite the league commencing early, CAB ensured that all the teams have had a fair amount of time for practice at the various grounds of CAB. This while conducting the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy matches simultaneously.
This is not all the District League-cum-knockout tournaments will also commence in November, followed by the District T20 meet.
The first stage of the A Division League tournament will begin with 11 teams from Group A playing in a three-day round-robin format.
Defending champions Bhowanipore Club, Mohun Bagan A.C, East Bengal Club, Police Athletic Club, Barisha Sporting Club, Paikpara Sporting Club, Tapan Memorial Club, Town Club, Shambazar Club, Kalighat Club and Calcutta Customs Club will play against each other once before the second phase.
Of all the teams participating in the Group A, Mohun Bagan looks a strong side on paper and a top contender for the title with star players being part of the squad.
The team comprising Anustup Majumdar, Manoj Tiwary, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Arnab Nandi, Abishek Porel, Kazi Junaid Saifi and Ayan Bhattacharjee, Mohun Bagan will have the luxury of both experience and youth in their team to go the distance.
Defending champions Bhowanipore will take a lot of confidence from their performance in the last season. Promising batsmen Abhishek Das, Abhishek Raman, Koushik Ghosh, Sandipan Das will aim to deliver and help the team defend their title.
While Aamir Gani, Pradipta Pramanik, Arka Sarkar and Writtick Chatterjee will be the key in their bowling department.
On the other hand, East Bengal, with star pacer Ishan Porel in their side, will aim to make it count along with experienced batsmen Prosenjit Kumar Das, Soham Ghosh, Sougata Dutta. New faces Akash Ghatak, Diganta Neogi and Bengal under-25 promising batsman Ankur Paul will also look to impress.
Kalighat Club, banking on both experience and youth, have a promising squad to trouble the opposition. Veteran cricketers Debabrata Das, Sudip Gharami, Writam Porel, Sayan Ghosh and Kaushik Maity make them strong contenders too.
Other teams, may miss some big names in their side but will look to bring in their best and cause a couple of upsets in the tournament.
