Gharami's 127 goes in vain as
Bengal lose to Maharashtra
15th November 2022
Sudip Gharami's 127 off 132 balls was not enough at the end as Bengal went down by three wickets to Maharashtra in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite Group E clash in Ranchi on Tuesday.
Riding on a fine century by Gharami and a 64-ball 62 from all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, Bengal posted a challenging 279/6 in 50 overs.
In reply, despite Bengal bowlers trying their best, Maharashtra batsmen kept their cool and smashed 21 off the final over to seal the nail-biting match in their favour.
Azim Kazi scored a match-winning 106 off 97 as Maharashtra scored 282/7 in 50 overs.
With just a win from three games, Bengal's next match against Pondicherry on Thursday will be crucial to keep their chances alive for the knockout rounds.
