We have also in place grand plans which would ensure that Eden Gardens would remain as one of the best stadiums the world has ever seen.
I am elated that Mr. Snehasish Ganguly, one of the best first class cricketers that the state has ever produced, is now the President of CAB. I have absolutely no doubt that he is the right choice and the right man to lead this association forward boldly and with efficiency. My best wishes are always with him. I am sure that his efforts would bring in much glory both on the field and of it.”
The newly elected President of CAB Snehasish Ganguly said: “Being the President of this association is a great honour and responsibility at the same time. It is an emotional day for me also. CAB had a giant role to play behind whatever achievement I have had in cricket. So I am nostalgic today. The old memories flood back like a fairy tale in sepia tone. I was all of 11 years when I first stepped into Eden Gardens for the trials of U-15 Vijay Merchant Trophy in the season of 1978-79. I knew that day Eden touched my heart and entered my veins and today it runs in me like my blood. I have played many memorable matches for Bengal and it has been a cause for great delight for me.
In 2020 when I became the Secretary of the Association, it was a special day too. But to become the president of the association is a separate feeling, something I perhaps can’t adequately put in words.
I have a vision for Bengal’s cricket. It is to take its cricket to the next level irrespective of Men’s and Women’s cricket. But to do this I need your cooperation my House, of each and everyone of the member, the coaches, the support staff and most importantly my players. The players are the assets of any organization and no matter how well we plan, they are the ones who will deliver. But I hope and believe that together we will be able to attain the cherished goals set.
Undertaking the construction work at Eden Gardens is also on the priority list. We have already started the rehauling of seats a process that will continue along with other repair and reconstruction work. But the most important plan was to replace the lights at the four towers with the LED lights that works on the modern DMX system. We have plans to renovate and upgrade the interiors of the B C Roy Club House, the canteen, the under gallery and wash rooms plans for which are ready for implementation.
I thank my immediate predecessor Mr. Avishek Dalmiya for leaving the association stronger and richer which will help us in taking the association forward with speed and efficiency.”
