Bengal beat TNCA by 43 runs

16th October 2022
Shahbaz's spectacular 42 of 27 with a strike rate of 155+ late in the first innings and his 3 for 13 runs with the ball helped the Bengal Senior team win their second consecutive match in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, this time against Tamil Nadu, which was played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The Bengal men's all-round performance helped the side win by a handsome 43 runs.
Coach LR Shukla said: "The team is playing as a unit. The players are backing each other. They are playing to their strength and the strategies we are working out. But it is just the beginning of a very very long road. So there is no place for complacency. Today was a good day at office, tomorrow it will be the same challenge."
The in form Captain A R Easwaran along with Sudip Kr. Gharami's 63 run partnership gave the CAB side a solid start allowing the middle order to open up their arms late in the innings. Easwaran scored a decent 38 of 36 whereas Gharami's 27 of 14 helped the team to keep the run rate high from the very beginning of the innings. Ritwik's 32 of 29, holding one side of the game allowed Shahbaz to play his natural game to take the side to a decent total.
Akash Deep's early strike early in the second innings allowed the Bengal bowlers to keep the TNCA batters under check. Besides Shahbaz's fabulous show with the ball, Pradipta Paramanik and Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets each to end the TNCA batting innings with 9 wickets down in 20 overs. The team will face Sikkim next on Tuesday at the same venue.
