Income Tax crowned as Inter Office
Cricket tournament champion

Income Tax RC defeated Food Corporation of India by 23 runs in a thrilling final to become Inter Office Cricket League cum knockout tournament champion at Eden Gardens today.
NCC Inter-office Cricket League Cum Knock-out Tournament was revived largely due to the personal initiative of President Avishek Dalmiya. This tournament pitted some of the big private and public sector companies against each other. Thus it also resulted in employment of the local players. The tournament was sponsored by NCC and jointly organised by Office Sports Federation and National Cricket Club under the patronage of The Cricket Association of Bengal.
The office sports league had stopped for the last few years. It was revived by President Avishek Dalmiya largely with the aim of creating employment opportunities for local cricketers.
Incidentally all matches of office sports quarter-finals onwards was played at the iconic Eden Gardens.
Naresh Ojha, CAB Vice President said during the prize distribution ceremony: "Very happy to see the office league conclude successfully after a long haul. I thank and congratulate our President Avishek Dalmiya, Hony. Secretary Snehasish Ganguly, Tour, Fixtures & Technical Committee Chairman Subhankar Ghosh Dastidar, other committee members and groundsmen who have put in a lot of efforts to make this tournament a success. Cricket is evolving and in the days to come the tournament will too. We hope lot more corporates, PSUs will take part in future which will bring lots of jobs to our talented players."
Batting first Income Tax amassed 130/4 as Avilin Ghosh highest scored with an unbeaten 22-ball 42. Experienced Sudip Chatterjee added 37 runs in the middle. FCI bowler Toufiq Uddin took 2 wickets.
While chasing FCI lost wickets in regular intervals as Pradipta Pramanik (3-13) and Papu Ray (2-14) wrecked havoc.
Secretary of Office Sports Federation, Pradip Basu expressed his delight over the successfull tournament: "It was challenging of course. The tournament couldn't take place due to the pandemic. A lot of credit goes to the CAB President Avishek Dalmiya who has ensured this tournament is done successfully. I thank CAB President, all the office bearers, Apex Council and other committee members for their support and I hope this tournament will get bigger in the coming days."
