Bengal take on MP in Ranji semifinal

13th June 2022
A confident Bengal side will take on Madhya Pradesh in a high-voltage Ranji trophy semifinal clash starting from tomorrow at the Alur Stadium in Bengaluru.
Bengal head coach Arun Lal spoke ahead of the Ranji trophy semifinal starting from tomorrow: "We have had very good practice sessions for last two days, very purposeful. We are ready for tomorrow's match. The last time we took a risk, it was a very tough call to play only one spinner and not play an off-spinner against five left-handers. It worked well for us, Sayan Sekhar did well with the ball, took wickets. Here I think we'll have to have a more balanced side, maybe one less fast bowler."
Boasted by their record-breaking batting display with their top nine batters, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Abhishek Raman, Sudip Gharami (186), Anustup Majumdar (117), Manoj Tiwary, Abhishek Porel, Shahbaz Ahmed, Sayan Mondal and Akash Deep hitting fifties against Jharkhand side.
In the bowling department Sayan and Shahbaz did you exceptionally well taking 4 wickets apiece while Ishan Porel, Akash and Mukesh Kumar kept the batters in check.
"I have seen the wicket and it seems alright. When I was looking at the scores of the last match played at this ground between Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, the match finished in 3 days and most of the wickets were taken by the fast bowlers. So we'll have to wait till tomorrow morning and see how the wicket is. But generally thinking that's the balance- 2 spinners and 3 pacers. I think Manoj will be alright for tomorrow's match. Hopefully he'll play tomorrow" he added.
For Madhya Pradesh Shubham Sharma hit a fluent 102 in the first innings while Kumar Kartikeya Singh bagged 6 for 50 in the second innings to bowl out Punjab for 203 and then the openers raced to 26/0 in 5.1 overs to seal an emphatic ten-wicket win.
