Upbeat Bengal take on Jharkhand in Ranji quarters

5th June 2022
An upbeat Bengal side will take on Jharkhand in their Ranji trophy quarterfinal match starting fro tomorrow at Bengaluru.
Bengal head coach Arun Lal said: "We are working hard, have prepared well and trying to give our best. I am confident that our players will give their all, perform well. We have played preparatory matches to get back in the red ball mode, get used to the wicket here. We came ten days before for that reason only. Initially we were highly underprepared because the wicket here is very different. There's a lot of bounce, there's some grass, the ball deviates off the seam- we don't mind that but it's just that we needed to be prepared because it's very different than Kolkata."
A decorated batting lineup crafted with experienced campaigners skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sudip Chatterjee, Manoj Tiwary, Anustup Majumder along with youngsters Abhishek Porel, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury has certainly been Bengal's one of the strengths this season.
All-rounders Shahbaz Ahamed, Writtick Chatterjee, Sayan have delivered when needed while the three-legged pace attack led by Ishan Porel aided by Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep has cumulative count of 39 wickets among the 58 that Bengal got this season.
"We'll need go there and see the wicket tomorrow and finalize the playing XI. We didn't go there today because it's too far away to travel and practice. So I have given a day off kind of and optional practice today because we have been playing continuously everyday. We'll go in with three pacers definitely, the choice we'll have to make tomorrow is about fourth pacer or a spinner," the coach replied when asked about expected playing XI and the wicket.
For Jharkhand Kumar Deobrat, Kumar Kushagra, Virat Singh would play crucial roles while Bengal look heavy with firepower in their bowling department.
