Karan five-for puts Barisha in command

Karan Lal five-for restricted Calcutta Customs to a low total as Barisha Sporting need 49 runs with 7 wickets in hand to enter quarterfinals of CAB First Division Championship play-off at the end of the first day's play today.
Batting first Customs were bundled out for 162 as Karan took 5 wickets leaking just 41 runs and Barisha ended the day on 114/3 to stay on the driver's seat.
East Bengal and Town Club both dominated in their respective games. EB posted a mammoth 567/9 riding on Sayan Sekhar Mondal century and later reduced opponents Calcutta Police to 99/6 to tighten their grip on the quarterfinal spot.
While Town ended the day on 207/4 as Naved Ahamed stayed unbeaten on 86 chasing 289-run target set by Eastern Railway Sports Association.
In NC Chatterjee Memorial T20 trophy WB Police Sports Club, Mauri Sporting, Shibpur Institute, Taltala Institute, Bengal Sporting, Bantra Cricket Club, Behala Friends and Calcutta Cricket Club entered quarterfinals winning their respective matches.
Chandan Singh put up a fiery show with the bat slamming 49-ball 117 to power Mauri Sporting to victory against Uttar Palli Milan Sangha, Sandip Das hit unbeaten ton while Saujan Biswas took 4 wickets in WB Police wina and Bantra rode on Lalit Mohan Das, Amit Sarkar fifties to thrash Ariadaha Sporting by 10 wickets.
