matches at Coochbehar in future once

6th April 2022
CAB President Avishek Dalmiya today said that he was open to the idea of bringing Cooch Behar Trophy to the eponymous place as venue in addition to the existing venues in the future once the pandemic is over, to respect the legacy of the Cooch Behar Royal Family.
However, this year all the matches would be held in Kolkata because of restrictions imposed due to the pandemic.
He was present at the final of Inter District Women's Open T20 Championship played between Nadia and Hoogly at Cooch Behar.
"This place has a rich legacy of cricket. No one can forget the royal family's contribution to cricket here. Our purpose of visit is to develop a process that will ensure more players from districts and give them a platform to showcase their talents and flourish," CAB President Avishek Dalmiya said.
"We have visited Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar with the intention to take necessary steps in order to bring out more cricketers from the district level and to develop better infrastructure," he added.
Also present were Jt. Secretary Debabrata Das, Treasurer Debasish Ganguly and other committee members, Apex Council Rajib Ghosh and District Committee Chairman Sanjit Toroi.
Meanwhile, Nadia rode on a disciplined bowling attack to thrash opponents Hooghly by 10 wickets in a rain-curtailed final of Inter district Women's Open T20 tournament today at Cooch Behar.
Due to overnight rain, the match was reduced to 6 overs per-side. Electing to bat first Hooghly batters were asked all the uncomfortable questions by Nadia bowlers as they were restricted to a paltry 22/2 in their quota of overs which was later chased down in just 3.3 overs by Naida comfortably.
Earlier Nadia bowlers Ankita Barman and Moli Mondal picked up 1 wicket apiece leaking just 4 and 3 runs respectively to make it an one-sided affair.
Nadia skipper Mita Paul (10) and Priyanka Bala (12) remained unbeaten till the end to win the silverware.
