Bengal U25 team posted 507 in the first innings powered by a solid batting show from their lower order batters followed by steady bowling performance to reduce opponents Jammu & Kashmir to 121/3 and end the second day of Col CK Nayudu trophy opener with 386-run lead today at Delhi.
Resuming the day on 331/4 Bengal lost their skipper Kazi Junaid Saifi on 64, all-rounder Pradipta Pramanik in the first over of the day and youngster Abhishek Porel (45) going back just 9 balls later made things worse.
Staring at a batting collapse Kaushik Maity along with Arka Sarkar added 105 runs off 185 balls to lay the foundation for a 500-plus total. Md kaif and added crucial 34 after Musaif Aziz got rid of Arka to take Bengal to 507.
Auqib Nabi was the highest wicket-taker among J&K bowlers with 3 for 98.
Bengal pace spearhead Kaif drew the first blood removing J&K opener Dikshant Kundal on the third ball of the first over. Kaif finished the day with 2 wikcets under his belt, Arka took 1 as J&K were reduced to 121/3 at the end of the day’s play.
