Jhulan sets new record
17th March 2022
Cricket's wonder woman Jhulan Goswami today set a history defining milestone becoming the first lady cricketer to pick 250 wickets in the 50 overs version of the game.
Hailing the achievement
CAB President Avishek Dalmiya said, "Jhulan is not only Bengal's pride, she is perhaps the best ambassador for woman's cricket globally. Her success and records she has broken or set, in a career spanning two decades, speaks for her abundant talent.
We at CAB are proud of her achievements and wish her all the very best for future. She is a living legend and has inspired generations for choosing the sport."
Jhulan reached this milestone when she deceived English opener Tammy Beaumont with a delivery that swung late to trap her lbw during a world cup match at Bay Oval.
She had also broken the record for most wickets at the Women's World Cups, going past Australia's Lynn Fullston, when she picked her 40th wicket of the Cup against the West Indies when she dismissed Anisa Mohammed on 2 this world cup.
“We would surely felicitate her in due course of time for these amazing achievements in a befitting manner”, added Avishek Dalmiya.
