12th March 2022
Virat Singh and Kumar Kushagra hit tons to keep Nagaland bowlers at the bay on the first day of the only Ranji trophy pre-quarterfinal match to post 402/5 at Eden Gardens today.
Nagaland playing an Elite side for the first time elected to field after winning the toss and did well to reduce Jharkhand to 64/2 in 15 overs.
Kumar Suraj with a 91-ball 66 steadied the ship and laid foundation for a big total while Jharkhand skipper Saurabh Tiwary was removed by R Jonathan on 29.
Virat and Kushagra played 213 balls together to stich a huge 175-run innings to make life miserable for Nagaland bolwers. Virat went back scoring a well made 107 while Kushagra remained unbeaten on 112.
