Bengal reach knockouts

Bengal maintained their winning momentum to make it three wins in a row in Ranji trophy thanks to their bowlers who worked hard on a final day wicket that was not offering much to bundle Chandigarh and win the match by 152 runs today.
Chasing a 413-run target to win in the second innings Chandigarh already lost two batters on the third day for 14 runs and they were bundled out for 206 runs at the end of the final day to top the Elite group B table with 18 points.
Bengal head coach Arun Lal's said post Bengal's last Ranji Trophy group league match: "This team has been fantastic. They have shown character, spirit, skill and fitness, kept themselves motivated to reach the top of the table. It was not a must-win match for us to reach the knockouts but still the boys worked very hard to win this game. It keeps the winning habit with us, the momentum intact and keeps us confident about us."
"I have been saying this for a long time that our bowlers have been performing endlessly for us, they have set very high standards for themselves and they kuve up to it. We depend on them, hats off to them. In this match we got almost 3 hundreds, our number 8 stayed unbeaten on 97, these really augurs well for our batting unit," he added.
Bengal bowlers maintained discipline and bowled in tight lines to keep opponents batters' in check.
Experienced bowler Mukesh Kumar removed Gaurav Gambhir (19) early in the morning while Chandigarh skipper Manan Vohra (40) and Amrit Lal Lubana (57) put up resistance.
Experienced bowler Nilkantha Das removed both set Chandigarh batters to put Bengal in control of the game while rest were cleaned up by Shahbaz Ahamad, Anustup Majumder and Ishan Porel.
Ishan was the highest wicket-taker for Bengal in the second innings with 3 for 37.
