Easwaran, Anustup shine as Bengal post
329 on day one

3rd March 2022
Skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran led from the front with a fluent century while experienced campaigner Anustup Majumder missed out on a well-deserved hundred as Bengal put up a dominating show batting first to post 329/6 at the end of the first day's play in Ranji trophy against Chandigarh today.
Put to bat first Easwaran and Anustup added 193 runs off the third wicket after Bengal were reduced to 42/2 in 16 overs to set the foundation for a big score. Easwaran went back after scoring a fine 172-ball 114 while Anustup's gritty innings came to an end on 95.
Bengal skipper said: "It feels good to score 300-plus runs on the first day, it gives us the advantage, let's us control the game more. We did a pretty decent job while batting today, losing a couple of wickets less would've made things even better. How Anustup Majumder played today was very important for us, we stitched a good partnership. Manoj Tiwary and Sayan Sekhar Mondal made a crucial partnership that gotten us closer to the total we expected. It was a decent day for us."
"I am not at all satisfied. I had the opportunity to score big and take my team to a bigger total, I missed out on that. We'll make sure we get a good total on the board. The wicket helped the fast bowlers for an hour and a half, not much help for the spinners," he added
Bengal endured batting collapse losing 4 wickets for 33 runs including two new batter Shahbaz Ahamad and Abhishek Porel.
Former Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary along with youngster Sayan Sekhar Mondal arrested the slide by stitching a 61-run partnership.
Manoj stayed unbeaten on 42, Sayan made a quick 33 not out. Hyderabad bowler Jagjit Singh Sandhu continued good form by bagging 3 wickets on day one.
