Bengal look to book knockout spot with a win

2nd March 2022
An upbeat Bengal side inspired by two back-to-back victories in Ranji trophy will take on Chandigarh in their final group stage match in order to seal a place in the knockouts with a victory starting from tomorrow at Cuttack.
Bengal have shown a lot of character, bowling attack powered by their pacers Ishan Porel, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar have kept Abhimanyu Easwaran's men dominant at crucial times while all-rounder Shahbaz Ahamad, youngster Abhishek Porel gave Bengal edge with extraordinary performances.
Batting has been a point of concern for Bengal in the last two matches while Ritwik Roy Chowdhury, Anustup Majumder, Easwaran got good starts.
Bengal head coach Arun Lal said: "Batting is a concern for us right now, we're hoping to connect and get into rhythm. Our bowling and fielding is going perfectly for us, batting is sporadic. This is a terrific batting side, once it gets into rhythm, gets confidence then we will be a real tight unit. We are all looking forward to that. The game has moved on so much that not only in limited over cricket but also in 4-days match it's all about all-rounders. Our all-rounders have been playing crucial role for us and they've been superb."
"It's difficult to read the wicket. We have the advantage of playing matches here before, so we can act accordingly. It asks few questions before the lunch and after that it gets hard to get a batter out. Bowling first will be preferable", he added.
On the other hand Chandigarh will look to put up a good show with their batter Arslan Khan, Harnoor Singh, skipper Manan Vohra, and A kaushik in the lineup. In the bowling department five-wicket taker in the last match Jagjit Singh Sandhu, Gurinder Singh will be ones to watch out for.
