Wriddhi to begin from zero
5th February 2017
While acknowledging that a big score is a huge psychological boost, India stumper Wriddhiman Saha feels that he will start from scratch when India take on Bangladesh in the one off Test commencing from February 9 in Hyderabad.
Wriddhi flies out to join the team after playing for Bengal in the T20 Zonal League where the side emerged as group champions. Asked if the knock in Irani Trophy would be of any help, he said: " Any big knock is a boost. You do things that are correct and you carry it with you. But every match is different. When we begin against Bangladesh we start from scratch."
On how much help this meet will be, he said: "This is a different game altogether. You need to hit every ball. In Test patience is the key. You score of bad balls only. So my preparations for the Test will begin only after I join camp."
He also said he is not bothered about the ranking of Bangladesh. "Any Test playing nation has a quality side. And they deserve that respect."
Meanwhile, Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary lauded the young side for their exploits in The meet. "This has been a very important meet for us. Some players have invented themselves and some reinvented themselves. Take for instance Sreevats Goswami. The way he played was really worth the praise. And that after a lot of people had given up on him. But the team management backed him and he has shown his merit."
Manoj also praised Abhishek Raman and Praamod Chandilla for their performance while singling out Kanishk Seth as a talented pacer. "The way the young players have worked and grabbed the chances that came their way is a good sign. We have a lot of smart intelligent cricketers and they have shown what they can do."
While admitting that this tournament will help in the preparations for the One-dayers from February 25, he said: "The team will deal with the probem of giving away too many runs in the bowling department. But the good thing is we have won two matches chasing and two batting first. This shows the balance and all round ability of the side."
Sreevats was elated with his performance. " It feels good to be among runs. I will try to keep it going. I will try to hold it in the onedayers and play as keeper batsman."
