Buoyant Bengal looking at winning start
to Ranji campaign

Bengal set to lock horns with Baroda in their Ranji trophy opener in an Elite Group B match tomorrow at Cuttack.
After missing the silverware by conceding the first innings lead to Baroda in the last edition of Ranji trophy which was in 2019-2020, Bengal under their young skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran will be poised to end the wait.
Bengal batting lineup has a decent blend of youngsters and experienced names in their ranks. Experienced campaigners Manoj Tiwary, Anustup Majumder, Sudip Chatterjee, Abhishek Kumar Raman being in the squad along with promising youngsters Ritwik Roy Chowdhury, Abishek Porel, Sudip Kumar Gharami, Abishek Das, Kazi Junaid Saifi and Sakir Habib Gandhi ready to perform at the top level, Bengal are expected to give the opponent bowlers a tough time.
Bengal head coach Arun Lal's quotes ahead of their ranji trophy opener against Baroda tomorrow: “Team is looking very good. We have had some very useful practices, they are working very hard, and their skill is looking good. We are pretty buoyant and we have a good mix of experience and youngsters, they are looking forward to it. The wicket is looking good; initially it might assist little bit of seam movement. So it’s important to win the toss.”
“We all are very buoyant about this prospect, he’s (Ravi Kumar) a wonderful talent but at the moment maybe he has to wait a while to make his debut,” he said when asked about U19 Indian pacer Ravi Kumar’s chances of making debut for Bengal.
All-rounders have been genuine game-changers for Bengal and the two IPL-picks Shahbaz Ahamed, Writtick Chatterjee along with talented Pradipta Pramanik, Karan Lal are expected to play crucial roles with both bat and the ball.
Baroda, will be captained by Kedar Devdhar, who has been crucial for them while Krunal Pandya brings in the experience as an prolific all-rounder.
In the bowling department Ishan Porel, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and recent U19 World Cup sensation Ravi Kumar will be in the focus for Bengal while for Baroda Lukman Meriwala, Bhargav Bhatt are among their experienced names.
