Opening was the team's decision, says Saha
1st February 2017
On an opening 150-run stand, leading to Bengal’s brilliant run chase against Assam in their second East Zone T20 Tournament match today, wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha said, opening the innings was the team's decision.
“Opening the innings was the team's decision. I enjoyed batting with Shreevats (Goswami) on the other hand. It was a modest target to chase,” said Saha in a post match press conference. Saha remained not out at 71 off 52 balls.
On getting selected for the Bangladesh match, he said, “I always focus on my game. I believe as a player that is most important thing to do. Every match is important to me. I worked hard to recover from injury then, and get into the rhythm. Coming back in the test team is just the result of it.”
After playing the T20 tournament, Saha will join the National squad directly, asked if any problem would occur to cope up with the change in formats, he said, “This is a part of the game. You have to cope up. We will definitely get few days of practice before the match.”
Bengal will play their last match of the trophy against Jharkhand. Ex-Indian skipper MS Dhoni is expected to play the match.
Asked about his eagerness to play against Dhoni, “It will be a great experience to play against him, if he plays. He is one of the greatest players I have seen,” Saha concluded.
